Terms of Service
Last updated October 24, 2026
These terms cover your use of Benchside™, the shop design web app at app.getbenchside.app and the website at getbenchside.app (together, "Benchside"). By using Benchside or creating an account, you agree to them.
What Benchside Is
Benchside is software that helps you design workbenches, tool stations, wall storage, drawer cabinets and other shop furniture. It produces 3D models, cut lists, cutting diagrams, shopping lists, build plans, drawings and CNC files. We sell access to plans made by the software. We don't build, sell or ship furniture.
Your Account
You can design without an account. To save your shops to an account, share links or buy plans, you sign in with a link sent to your email. Keep access to that email secure; anyone who can read it can sign in as you. You're responsible for what happens in your account. You must be at least 18 and able to enter a contract to buy a plan.
Plans and Payment
Designing is free. A plan is a one-time purchase that unlocks the cut list, cutting diagrams, build plan and CNC files for one saved piece (a piece plan) or for the pieces in one saved shop that you haven't already bought (a shop plan). The plan stays unlocked for that piece through any change of size, options or materials. Changing a piece into a different kind of piece is a new design and needs its own plan. Prices are shown before you buy.
Payments are handled by Polar (polar.sh), our merchant of record. Polar's terms also apply to your purchase, and Polar collects any sales tax or VAT that's due. Refunds follow our Refund Policy.
Check the Numbers Before You Cut
Benchside does the math, but you're the builder. Before cutting, check the dimensions, materials, fasteners, hardware ratings and quantities against your tools, your materials and your own judgment. Measure your own saw and other tools; Benchside builds around the numbers you enter. Wall-hung and folding pieces must be fastened into structure that can hold them and what you put on them. Benchside doesn't certify any piece for any load, and you're responsible for what you build and how it's used. Use your tools safely and follow their makers' instructions.
Your Information
The designs and settings you make belong to you. You give us permission to store and process them only to run Benchside for you, including syncing them between your devices and serving a shared copy to anyone you send a share link to. See the Privacy Policy.
Who Owns Benchside and Its Plans
Benchside, including its software, its piece designs and the plans, drawings, diagrams, build steps and CNC files it produces, and the Benchside name and logo, is owned by Benchside and protected by copyright and other laws. Plans you buy are licensed to you, not sold.
Benchside doesn't claim any method of building. Workbenches, French cleats, dados and drawer runners are common knowledge, and anyone is free to build however they like. What Benchside owns is its own work.
What you can do with a plan you've bought: use it to build the piece, as many times as you like, for yourself or for clients, and share it with the people helping you build it or the client it's for.
What you can't do: sell, publish, give away or share Benchside plans or files (or anything copied from them) as plans, templates or files, including on marketplaces such as Etsy, websites, forums or social media; use them to make a competing product; or remove the Benchside name from them.
What you build from a plan is yours to use, sell or install.
Shared Links
A share link gives anyone who has it a copy of your shop's design to change for themselves. It doesn't share plans you've bought. Don't share links to anything you don't have the right to share.
Availability and Changes
We work to keep Benchside running, but it's provided as is, without guarantees that it will always be available or free of errors. We may change or improve it. If we ever shut Benchside down, we'll email account holders at least 90 days before, so you can print or download the plans you've bought.
Limits of Liability
To the extent the law allows, Benchside isn't liable for indirect or consequential damages, lost materials, or injury or damage from building or using anything made from a plan, and our total liability is limited to what you paid us in the 12 months before the claim.
Ending Your Account
You can delete your account at any time from the account window. We may suspend accounts that break these terms. Plans you've bought aren't refunded when an account is closed for breaking them.
Changes to These Terms
If we change these terms in a way that matters, we'll update the date above and email account holders before the change takes effect.
